Do you like cartoons? Want to do something fun?

September 27th, 2007 by eslphrae in things to do · No Comments

Hi again,

It’s almost mid-term vacation. Tests are nearly over. You will have a lot of free time in the next few weeks.

Do you like to look at cartoons? Do you like to do things? How about a little science?

Many of you have made bottle rockets for school…how would you like to make a bottle submarine?

You like to see movies. Would you like to build a zoetrophe…wooo! What’s that?

It is what people watched before there were movies!

If you would like to explore and have some fun with science…here’s a website for you to look at.

Go to www.howtoons.com – this is not a link… you will have to put it into the address bar on your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox– I hope it is Firefox.  It is good and safer.)

I think you will like it.

Let me know. You can comment below.

Until next time, have fun.

A Look at Hawai’i and one of its great singers

September 25th, 2007 by eslphrae in video for students · No Comments

Hi again,

I found this nice video on Youtube.

The singer is Israel Kamakawiwoole.  He played the Hawai’ian musical instrument called the Ukelele.  The song is Somewhere Over the Rainbow.  In the video you will see Israel singing.  You will see beautiful pictures of Hawai’i and the celebration of his life after he died.  You will see many boats taking his ashes out to the sea.

(A note about Youtube videos for the students.

If your Internet is slow, when the Youtube site comes on your screen. Let the video start and then hit pause (||) watch the red line fill up its space at the bottom of the video.  Then when it is full hit play (>).  Enjoy the video.
